Fender x Pokémon. Two Special Edition Guitars Celebrate Pokémon's 30th Anniversary

Fender x Pokémon. Two Special Edition Guitars Celebrate Pokémon's 30th Anniversary

Fender and Pokémon have joined forces for a special guitar collaboration in celebration of Pokémon's 30th anniversary.

The collection includes two Made in Japan electric guitars that draw inspiration from the original Pokémon Red and Green video games. Rather than just putting Pokémon artwork on standard Fender guitars, this collaboration offers custom designs, specially developed pickups and a built-in 8-bit sound feature.

The collection consists of two models. A Red Version Stratocaster and a Green Version Telecaster.

1. Fender Pokémon Red Version Stratocaster

The Red Version Stratocaster draws its inspiration from the original Pokémon Red game, which came out in Japan in 1996.

Pixel-art graphics cover the guitar's body, capturing the look of the original game within a classic Fender Stratocaster design.

The pickguard features a distinctive pixel-inspired shape along with a fluorescent-style visual effect that shifts depending on the viewing angle. A custom neck plate bearing a Pokémon 30th anniversary logo is also included.

For the pickups, Fender created a special set of Red Version Stratocaster single-coil pickups. These are built with higher output to produce a powerful, focused sound while preserving the familiar Stratocaster character.

2. Fender Pokémon Green Version Telecaster

The Green Version Telecaster takes its inspiration from the original Pokémon Green game.

As with the Stratocaster, it includes pixel-art graphics drawn from the classic game. The design carries over onto the body and pickguard, creating a distinctive retro gaming appearance.

It is equipped with custom Green Version Telecaster single-coil pickups. These pickups are built to deliver balanced output, clear articulation and the crisp high-end response that a Telecaster is known for.

Both guitars feature the same anniversary details, yet each retains the character of its original Fender model.

The Built-In 8-Bit Sound System

A particularly notable aspect of this collaboration is the integrated 8-Bit Sound System.

Each guitar is able to introduce electronic 8-bit sounds into the natural guitar signal. Pressing the volume knob is what activates this feature.

The sound draws its inspiration from the classic electronic tones found in the original Pokémon games. It offers players a means of blending ordinary electric guitar sounds with retro video game-style audio.

This goes beyond being merely a visual collaboration. Fender has built in a special sound feature that ties directly into the Pokémon theme.

Special Pokémon Details and Accessories

Fender has bundled several exclusive items with both of the guitars.

Every model includes its own hard case, an illustrated certificate of authenticity, and a custom neck plate adorned with a Pokémon 30th anniversary pixel-art logo.

A collectible pick tin holding 11 guitar picks is also part of the package. Ten of the picks showcase Pokémon pixel-art designs, and the last one celebrates the 30th anniversary.

Thanks to these details, the guitars appeal to musicians and Pokémon collectors alike.

Release Date and Price

Both guitars are special editions made in Japan. They will be sold in Japan via Pokémon Center Online through a lottery-based sales system.

The lottery applications are set to open on 19 November 2026 and to close on 24 November 2026.

Both models are priced at ¥396,000 in Japanese retail, tax included.

As of the announcement, the only confirmed sales channel is the Japanese release. Delivery is restricted to addresses within Japan. Buyers in other regions should look to their local Fender and Pokémon Center websites for additional availability details.

Final Thoughts

The Fender x Pokémon collaboration is a noteworthy release aimed at two quite different communities.

Guitarists are offered two Made in Japan Fender instruments featuring custom pickups and an unusual built-in 8-bit sound feature. Pokémon enthusiasts get two collectible guitars inspired by the original Red and Green games.

The pixel-art graphics, special accessories and anniversary details set these guitars apart from standard Stratocaster and Telecaster models.

Whether you grew up playing Pokémon or just enjoy unusual Fender guitars, this collaboration is worth a look.
