The Cort Retro 304 4-String Electric Bass Guitar combines classic vintage-inspired styling, warm bass tones and comfortable short-scale playability in a beautifully designed instrument. Part of Cort's Retro Series, the Retro 304 delivers a distinctive playing experience for bassists who appreciate traditional sound characteristics with modern construction quality.
Featuring a 30-inch (762mm) short-scale design, the Retro 304 provides a more compact playing experience compared with conventional 34-inch bass guitars. The shorter scale reduces the distance between frets, making it an excellent choice for players seeking comfortable neck reach, smooth fret transitions and effortless playability.
The bass features an Alder body, delivering a balanced tonal foundation with warm low frequencies, defined attack and natural resonance. Its eye-catching Candy Apple Red gloss finish creates a timeless appearance, complemented by chrome hardware for an authentic retro-inspired look.
The bolt-on Hard Maple neck features a traditional U-shaped profile, providing a substantial and comfortable grip. Its smooth matte finish allows natural hand movement along the neck, making it suitable for extended practice sessions, rehearsals and live performances.
Paired with a Rosewood fingerboard, the Retro 304 offers a warm playing character with a smooth and responsive feel. The fingerboard features 20 nickel-silver frets, a traditional 9.5-inch (240mm) radius and classic white dot inlays with matching white side dots.
At the heart of the Retro 304 is the Cort Voiced Tone VTB-TB Humbucker pickup, specially voiced to deliver a vintage-inspired bass sound with warm low-end response, punchy character and clear note definition.
Unlike bass guitars equipped with active preamps, the Retro 304 features a passive electronic configuration with straightforward Volume and Tone controls. This simple control layout allows players to adjust their output level and tonal brightness without complicated settings or an onboard battery.
The Cort Retro Bridge provides a stable foundation for the strings, while the Cort Open Gear tuning machines complement the instrument's classic appearance and provide dependable tuning adjustments.
For convenient setup and maintenance, the bass includes a two-way adjustable truss rod with spoke-nut access, allowing neck relief adjustments when required.
Factory-equipped with D'Addario EXL170S short-scale strings (.045–.105), the Retro 304 is designed to deliver a balanced string response that complements its compact scale length.
Whether you're playing classic rock, blues, soul, funk, indie or modern pop, the Cort Retro 304 Short Scale Electric Bass Guitar delivers a distinctive combination of vintage character, modern reliability and comfortable playability.
