Sadowsky MetroExpress 21-Fret Vintage 5-String J/J Bass, Solid Olympic White High Polish

The Sadowsky MetroExpress 21-Fret Vintage 5-String J/J Bass combines classic Jazz-style bass design with modern refinements, premium hardware and the distinctive tonal character associated with Roger Sadowsky. Designed for musicians seeking professional performance, comfortable playability and versatile bass tones, this instrument offers an excellent combination of traditional styling and modern functionality.

Roger Sadowsky's philosophy has always focused on improving classic bass guitar designs through carefully selected tonewoods, innovative electronics and lightweight hardware. The MetroExpress Series brings these refinements into a more accessible range, allowing musicians to experience the renowned Sadowsky sound and playing feel.

Featuring a lightweight solid Okoume body, the MetroExpress Vintage J/J Bass offers a comfortable playing experience with a warm and responsive tonal foundation. Its elegant Solid Olympic White High Polish finish creates a timeless appearance, complemented by a classic tortoise pickguard and chrome hardware.

The instrument features a Roasted Maple neck with a comfortable C-shaped profile, providing a stable and responsive playing foundation. The roasting process helps reduce moisture content in the wood, contributing to improved dimensional stability compared with untreated maple.

Paired with a Roasted Maple fingerboard, the bass delivers a smooth playing surface with a distinctive natural wood appearance. The fingerboard features 21 nickel-silver frets, a comfortable 12-inch radius and classic white dot position markers.

The 34-inch (864mm) long-scale design provides a familiar playing feel with balanced string tension, while the five-string configuration extends the instrument's lower playing range for contemporary bass arrangements.

At the heart of the MetroExpress Vintage J/J Bass is a pair of Sadowsky Passive Hum-Cancelling J-Style Pickups, designed to deliver classic Jazz-style bass character with modern noise-reduction benefits.

The neck pickup provides warm and rounded bass tones, while the bridge pickup, positioned in the traditional 1960s J-style location, contributes focused midrange, clear articulation and a defined attack.

Together, these pickups offer a versatile tonal foundation suitable for smooth fingerstyle grooves, expressive slap bass techniques and powerful contemporary bass lines.

The instrument is designed to deliver the distinctive Sadowsky tonal character, featuring strong and controlled low frequencies, present but balanced midrange and smooth, airy treble response without excessive harshness.

The bass also features a Sadowsky bridge with quick string release, allowing convenient string changes while providing a stable foundation for consistent performance.

For dependable tuning performance, the instrument is equipped with Sadowsky Light Open Gear Machine Heads, designed to reduce unnecessary headstock weight while offering smooth and reliable tuning adjustments.

With a 47.5mm nut width and 18mm individual bridge string spacing, the MetroExpress Vintage J/J Bass provides comfortable string spacing suitable for fingerstyle, slap and pick playing techniques.

Factory-equipped with Sadowsky Silver Label Stainless Steel strings (.045–.130), the instrument delivers clear articulation, responsive attack and a powerful five-string bass character.
